NEVADA -- Pershing through White Pine

731. Pershing. Mazuma. A brass placard for Geo. H. Jones, Professor of Music. The sign has mounting holes at each corner. Brass is in excellent condition with some pitting. 12 x 14". Sign is very slightly bent (generally not noticeable). This was probably on a building that was destroyed by the big flood in July, 1912. The flood was so strong that it washed a bank vault 2 miles below town in Mazuma. Est. $300-500

732. Pershing. Mazuma. Cigar case. Embossed aluminum cigar case. Compliments/Holland, Lynes/ & Morrison/Mazuma, Nev./1909. in raised printing. Case is in rough shape, but the printing is unaffected. Appears to be made of aluminum. We know of only 3 other like this one. Fine to very fine. 3 x 5" Est. $400-700

737. Pershing. Seven Troughs. Postcard with Mazuma, Nev Postmark, 1908, and addressed to Elko, Nev. Front shows a raised, gilt image of a Thompson Touring Car with the caption "You Auto See the Seven Troughs Mining District". This is similar to the Thompson automobile that toured the west, made famous in a Goldfield photograph. Half inch tear at bottom edge into card. Much smaller tears along bottom edge. Very fine. This is the most common of the Nevada Hutchinson sodas, but is still quite scarce. It is in high demand by the folks who collect hutches from all 50 states. Est. $400-600.
