620. Clark. Logandale. Postmark Logandale, Nev. Very Rare. Letter addressed to Charley Culverwell of Pioche from Will Meveric of Logandale, Nev . The letter is slightly scornful due to Mr. Culverwell's seeming indifference to the writer's situation. The author has written several letters to Culverwell regarding payment for ten days work, "Now my ten days work is all I ask you to settle..", each of which Culverwell has failed to answer. The letter is dated Feb. 1922, and has original envelope. Logandale is written up in Ghost Towns and Mining Camps in Paher. The townsite was originally a Mormon settlement named St. Joseph. When the Federal Survey crews found that the town was actually in Nevada, the Mormons left for Utah and the town became Logan than Logandale. Cyrus Noble Decanters.
Cyrus Noble whiskey was an integral part of post-1900 mining camps. As a result, several mines in Nevada were named Cyrus Noble. One of them was in Searchlight, which was used as promotional material by the Cyrus Noble Whiskey Company. The Cyrus Noble Mining Co. was formed in 1901, incorporated in South Dakota.. The first resident agent was W. Bainbridge, and the company was run by men from Southern California. H. Garstin was president, and E. Mash secretary, both from Redlands. Wheatley became the resident agent later in 1903. The decanters state that the mine produced more than $100,000 in gold, but State records show a production of $30,000 from 1904-1906. We have had certificates bearing this name from the Goldfield mine, but not the Searchlight mine to my knowledge. The decanters are scarce to rare, with the large decanters selling on ebay when available for $65-95 each. These lots represent a rare find for Nevada collectors. -fh [ref: incorp. papers on file in Carson City; C&C, 1943]
