Collection documents a portion of the mining and wilderness life of the Fraser gold rush. Most taken along Stuart's Lake and River, a significant tributary of the Fraser River, about 75 miles northwest of Prince George. The Photos, taken in 1899, document the second phase of gold rush to hit the region, coinciding with the Klondike gold rush of 1895-1900. Fraser River's first gold rush was in 1858. There are 13 photos of mining scenes, such as hydraulic mine and camp, showing monitors and men working them, as well as bird's eye view. 12 photos of Stuart's Lake dated July, 1899, including Ft. St. James and surrounding Indian bldgs., lumber mill, etc. 7 photos of areas along and around Stuart's River and Nechaco River, dated Mau to October, 1899. One photo of the sealing schooner "Umbrina" off of Victoria, December, 1899. Each photo is 4.75" squ. and in extremely fine condition. Est. $1500-2000

Sterling souvenir spoon from Tucson, featuring engravings of San Xavier Mission, Carnegie Library and Tucson High School in bowl. The handle begins with an engraving of a deer and "A Navajo Indian".
