First National Bank of Idaho

The three First National Bank of Idaho notes are all exceptionally rare. The vignettes depict major U.S. political figures and important local business. As an example, the $50 note has a vignette of “Beachey's Line for California”, a stagecoach line that carried passengers and goods into and out of Idaho City, and other mining camps as far away as Hamilton and Treasure Hill, Nevada, while going to or from San Francisco or Sacramento. The reverse of each note is important, picturing engravings of important Idaho businesses. These four pieces are from the Shingoethe Collection.  These may be the only ones known with at least an R8, and possibly Unique rarity rating.

RFG-647. First National Bank of Idaho, Durell & Moore Note, Boise City, ID Territory c 1865-1870

No. 874 Rare One Hundred Dollar Demand Note, printed on bond paper. There is a vignette of the Columbia Statue on the front left and an Eagle with “Pacific to Atlantic” on the back. Illegibly hand signed. This note is in Good condition with large split that has been taped on the reverse, and some discoloration. From the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection. $9,500.
