T. on the base (Whiteall-Tatum) Stowell was different in his drug store business. He was a mining man, and as such ran an assay business with the drug store, which he continued when he moved to Spokane. I know of no other druggist who ran a similar business in the west. His store was open from 1870-1882. very mint, clean bottle with only the tiniest of pin dings on the lip edge, too small to measure. Provenance: Dunn collection. Est. $50-100

Workman in 1907. Workman named several geographic features after automobile parts. National got its name from the car he drove. Locally there is a Radiator Hill. In 1909, the Stall brothers unearthed the National vein that was nearly pure electrum with a value of $30,000 per ton. The post office ran from 1908-1919 (Nevada Place Names, p.175-76). Est. $300-600

But financial difficulties followed with complicated negotiations finally resolving with the take over New Candelaria Mines by Rochester Silver Co and the Argentum Mining Co. 800. Mineral. Simon. Simon Silver Mine Photograph. View of mine shaft and operations on hillside. Possibly discovered as early as 1879, its noted discovery was launched in 1919 by P.A. “Pop” Simon, the organizer of the Simon Silver-Lead Mines Co. By 1921 a post office was established, along with a 100-ton flotation mill where they began treating ore. Reorganized in 1923, many improvements were made, including enlarging the stamp mill, allowing a 250 ton per day capacity. The mill closed in 1927 (Ref: NV Ghost Towns…,Paher, p.439). .
