Wells Fargo Alvin, TX Office. Agent C. W. Benson Letter to A. E. Carlton, 1904. Lot of 3 pcs. The letter is a very detailed 7 pp request for a $1000 loan from Carlton. C. W. Benson supplements his income by raising Gardenias in Alvin, Texas which he sells wholesale to other florists and retail to wealthy east coasters. This is evidence by two different advertising sheets included with this lot. The letter goes into depth of Benson's assets, pay back schedule, life insurance amounts, his history and even talks about his two boys. One of which is about to graduate high school, the other to graduate in three years when he is 16. Benson further elaborates on the younger son by telling of how bright he his, his grades, and his hope to send him to Texas University then onto Harvard. The loan is necessary due to a devastating hurricane that hit the year before in which he lost his crops and house. The only downside to this lot is that we do not know if Benson got the loan or not. Very legible. Slight running of ink. Very fine. Est. $75-150 2939. Teller. Cripple Creek. Wells Fargo Cripple Creek Office. Lot of 4. Three pieces are "Received From" A.E.
