This district is located in the Black Mountains, 8 miles south of Rosemont. The deposit is comprised of polymetallic veins in Precambrian granite (Davis & Streufert, 1990, p. 27) Folds. The company's office was located in Colorado Springs and their property consisted of 17 acres of the Arequa townsite and 7 acres of the Cameron townsite. It was crosscut by the Roosevelt tunnel and developed by a 554 ft shaft. The mine was blocked out for leasing; the Elkton Consolidated Mining and Milling Co. operated two blocks through the Elkton main shaft and in 1915 steadily shipped ore of average milling grade. Shoup and Reed organized the Midwest Oil Co, Midwest Refining Co and the Westland Securities Co. O. H. Shoup was governor of Colorado two terms from 1919-1923. Both leases are dated 1904, but one is cancelled. All leased blocks of the claim can be found on the plat. The operating statement notes the mine's operations, from the number of machines running to the number of cars shipping ore, dated 1902. Small stain in center. Tie clip has a bucking bronco in a large spur, and cufflinks are spurs with the initials "A.G.S." in the center. Fancy gilt on silver. We were told that these cuff links belonged a member of the W. Beaver Park was a town platted March 11, 1892 on the Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek District Railway. The town was later renamed Love., and its population in 1900 was 75. Con MC, Alta Argent MC, Homestead MC and Free Silver MC. He ,with is new business partner F. M. Taylor, built the Taylor & Brunton mill in Leadville in 1880. He was a successful mill operator and soon had the Taylor & Brunton Sampling Co with three major locations: Salt Lake, Victor and Aspen. TITLE ABSTRACTS AND REPORTS 2567. Teller. Cripple Creek. Title Abstracts and Ancillary Paperwork. Lot of about 1300 for Cripple Creek Area Mining Properties (patented mining claims). Most are notes in the hand of the title researcher on a form provided by the title company. The notes show book page, date of deed, date of record, Grantee, Grantor, instrument, consideration ($), and remarks. The claim name is at the top of the forms which are about 17" x 17" unfolded. fine, certificate has some minor wear at the folds. Trachyte is a volcanic
rock found at Cripple Creek, with a fine grained groundmass and nicely aligned
feldspar phenocrysts (crystals). Warren Woods was the President of Trachyte
GM&MC. They held one claim on Bull Hill that was worked by lessees and
